Maria Sharapova regained the world number one position in women's tennis, when she topped the WTA women's tennis rankings released Monday. The Russian benefited from the retirement of last week's number one, Justine Henin and now leads the standings on 4,182 points, just 159 ahead of Serbian Ana Ivanovic.
Sharapova, who topped the prestigious ranking list two and a half years ago, was ranked second last week and moved up when the new list was published on Monday.

I would like it duly noted that I am both repulsed and appalled at these endlessly senseless attacks on my character!!! Once again you people have been proven wrong. The Ma. J. reference was personnal, NOTHING ELSE. (but it is nice to know where your heads are at) The only reason that I don\'t try to reverse the spin is because there is no time!! To clarify, the good dr. and his assistant referred to it once, Ma. J. did it three consecutive days. And on top of everything else, it was meant to be a pleasant \"RETORT\", ( what else could either one do in our positions) and look what you people did with it. BRILLIANT INDEED!!
