Maria won't be playing against Nicole Vaidisova in Hong Kong tomorrow as Vaidisova has pulled out of the tournament due to illness.

This gives Elena Dementieva the final spot.

Maria, who looked a bit drowsy, lost her first match in Hong Kong of compatriot Elena Dementieva 6-7 (2-7) 6-3 6-1.

Maria and her partner Vera Zvonareva also lost in the doubles 3-8 against Svetlana Kuznetsova and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.

The Hong Kong draw is released, and Maria will play two singles matches and one doubles match. In Maria's first match of the Watson Water Challenge she will play fellow Russian Elena Dementieva. The match will start 18.30 local time.

Maria Sharapova stamped her authority over Venus Williams Sunday just two weeks from the start of the Australian Open, using her strong baseline strokes to overpower the former world No 1. in straight sets at a Thai exhibition match.
