Teen queen Sharapova won after a tough match against opponent Samantha Stosur (6-4, 1-6, 6-3)



In the quarter-finals Maria will play Youlia Fedossova of France, it will be the first time Maria play Fedossova.

Japan Open: Maria vs Stosur

In the second round of the 'Japan Open Tennis Championships' Maria will play against Samantha Stosur of Australia.


It will be the second time that they meet eachother. Last week Maria played against Stosur on the Korea Open, and won the match. (6-2 6-1)


Stosur won earlier today from Aiko Nakamura of Japan (6-3, 7-5).



This match will be the fourth match on Centre Court on Wednesday and the schedule starts at 10.00 local time.

Oops she did it again...
Maria has assumed her power by winning the Korean Open in Seoul.
She won here third title this year after beating the 1 year older Marta Domachowska(18) in the Olympic Park (Seoul).


Top-seeded Sharapova punished Domachowska with a barrage of powerful strokes and won the match in only 55 minutes (61 - 61)

The Polish Marta Domachowska was contesting her first WTA Tournament final in her career, but she was complete prospectless against Maria.

AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships draw released

The draw for the AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo has been released.
Maria is just like in Korea the #1 seeded player and she receives a bye for the first round. In the second round Maria will play either Aiko Nakamura of Japan or a qualifier.



Maria is the defending champion in Tokyo, and has no points to defend as Tokyo was played a week earlier last year.

Unbeatable Maria faces third final this year

Maria Sharapova reached the final of the Korea Open in Seoul.



The Russian Wimbledon-champion, first ranked on this Tournament, walked all over Anne Kremer (LUX) who did not stand a chance against Maria in the half finals: 6-0, 6-2.


In the final of the ‘Korean Open’ Maria will meet the Polish Marta Domachowka, who won in 2 sets of the American Abigail Spears: 7-6, 6-1.
